Brief Summary
This project explores the initial development of PrivyPod—a novel modular and prefabricated bathroom system to reduce cost, material waste, and installation time while achieving a higher quality product compared to traditional building methods. This grant is focused on conceptualization, initial prototype development, and several rounds of stakeholder feedback and testing.

Objectives

1. Iterative prototype development and installation of functioning prototype in the HHL
2. Usability evaluation with older adults with mobility impairments trialing out the PrivyPod prototype in the HHL
3. Prototype refinement guided by stakeholder usability feedback

Results
This study is in progress.

Community Impact
Exploration of a novel product that would provide a more affordable and less extensive alternative to traditional home modifications for older adults who do not currently have a first-story accessible bathroom.
