Palash Sharma

Palash Sharma is a Product Research and Development Engineer at the University of Pittsburgh’s Healthy Home Laboratory, where he works at the intersection of product strategy, engineering, clinical research, and human-centered design. His work focuses on creating AI-enabled health technologies and smart-home solutions that help older adults live more safely and independently.

At the Healthy Home Laboratory, Palash leads and supports product initiatives spanning medication management, fall prevention, home-safety assessment, caregiver support, and aging in place. His work includes developing AI-assisted applications serving older adults, evaluating connected health and smart-home devices, and translating the needs of older adults, caregivers, clinicians, and researchers into actionable product requirements. He also contributes to federally funded programs and collaborates with academic, community, and industry partners to move emerging technologies from early research through prototyping, evaluation, and real-world implementation.

Before joining the Healthy Home Laboratory, Palash was a Software Product Manager at Tesla, where he owned product strategy and delivery for systems supporting Solar, Powerwall, Wall Connector, and Virtual Power Plant products. His portfolio included pricing, quoting, contracts, subscription billing, taxation, customer experiences, and operational platforms.

Earlier in his career, Palash worked across product management, data science, and technical program management roles at RingCentral, KYC Hub, and the University of Pittsburgh. He also earned his master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh, where he developed a strong foundation in applying technology and data to complex, real-world challenges.

Across these experiences, Palash has consistently focused on transforming complex technical and operational challenges into useful, scalable products. He is particularly interested in responsible artificial intelligence, digital health, product innovation, and technologies that meaningfully improve people’s everyday lives.
